The Therapy

PROCESS

Step One: Reach Out

The first step is reaching out. When you contact me, we’ll schedule a complimentary 15-minute virtual consultation. This gives us both a chance to see whether we’re a good fit. You can share a bit about what’s bringing you (or your child, partner, or family) to therapy and ask any questions about my approach or experience.

I work with individuals, couples, and families, and our consultation helps clarify what type of support is best suited to your goals. Whether you’re looking for trauma-informed individual work, help navigating a high-conflict relationship, or support for parenting challenges, this initial conversation helps set the tone.

Step Two: Understanding Fees and Insurance

I do not accept insurance directly, which allows for greater privacy, flexibility, and control over your treatment without the restrictions or diagnoses required by insurance companies. Many clients successfully use their out-of-network benefits for reimbursement. I provide a “superbill” with all the details you need to submit claims.

To find out what your coverage includes, call your insurance company and ask:

  • Do I have out-of-network benefits for outpatient mental health services?

  • What is the reimbursement rate for CPT codes 90791 (initial intake) and 90834/90837 (individual therapy) or 90847 (family/couples therapy)?

  • What is my deductible and how much of it has been met?

  • Is telehealth covered?

This allows you to make an informed financial decision before we begin.

Step Three: Scheduling

If we decide to move forward, we’ll find a time that works for you. I offer virtual and in-person sessions in my Brookline office. We'll set a regular appointment schedule for consistency, whether it is weekly, biweekly, or even multiple times per week, depending on the intensity and goals of our work.

For couples and families, sessions may alternate between joint and individual meetings as needed to support clarity, alignment, and emotional safety.

Step Four: Your First Session

The first full session is about understanding your story. For individuals, we’ll explore your history, patterns, and what you’re hoping to shift or heal. In couples work, we look at relational dynamics, communication styles, and where things tend to break down. When working with families, I help clarify relationship roles, uncover sources of conflict, and support healthier, more connected dynamics.

My style is warm, collaborative, and interactive. This is a space where all parts of you are welcome.

Step Five: Ongoing Work

Our work is tailored to you. I may integrate approaches such as EMDR, CBT, attachment-based work, somatic practices, or ketamine-assisted therapy. Some sessions focus on processing trauma while others may involve building concrete skills for communication, boundaries, or emotional regulation.

Between sessions, I may suggest optional readings, practices, or resources to help you deepen your growth and insight. These might include:

  • Nervous system regulation tools

  • Thoughtful journaling prompts

  • Podcasts or articles related to your themes

  • Relationship exercises or communication tools

  • Book recommendations for parenting, trauma, or self-compassion

A Note About the Process

Healing isn’t linear. Therapy can be energizing and emotional, clarifying, and, at times, confusing. The process looks different for everyone—but through our work together, the goal is always to help you feel more connected, aligned, and empowered in your life and relationships.
